6. 1926 Macallan Whiskey
Everyone knows how expensive rare whiskey and wine can be, but there’s nothing quite like the Macallan 1926 60-year single malt.
A bottle of this whiskey, from cask number 263, most recently sold for $2 million in Sotheby’s in London, having been described as the “holy grail” of whiskey.
This precious cask only made forty bottles. It was distilled in 1926 and bottled 60 years later in 1986. Lots of these bottles have been sold for eye-watering amounts, including The Macallan Valerio Adami, which sold for $1.2 million in 2018.
Only twelve bottles of this whiskey were ever made, and no one knows how many still exist. People believe that one was destroyed in an earthquake while another was opened and drunk.
