Though originally priced at $126, John James Audubon’s “Birds of America” is worth $10.27 million today. This collection of hand-painted watercolor prints of birds is a collection of 435 delicate paintings in a set of four books.

It is believed that there are only four copies of the volume anywhere in the world.

The last time a copy went to auction was in 2018 when it sold for more than $10 million. The lucky buyer was Carl W. Knobloch, Jr., who gifted it to the KFF (Knobloch Family Foundation), which focuses on conservation and invests in causes to support the environment.

James Audubon could never have envisioned his work reaching such high value!
