Claudine Auger fought off competition from Luciana Paluzzi to play Dominique Derval (‘Domino’) in Thunderball. Domino was the trophy wife of high-ranking SPECTRE member Emilio Largo.

Auger was born in Paris in 1941 and up until her appearance in Thunderball, had mainly appeared in European movies.

After playing Bond’s love interest in the movie Auger’s fame went global.

The actress went on to appear in a number of European movies and even worked with Bond girls Ursula Andress in “Anyone Can Play” and Barbara Bach in “Black Belly of the Tarantula”.

Auger has married twice. Her second husband, Peter Brent, (who she married in 1984), sadly passed away in 2008.

Sadly, Auger died in Paris on 18th December 2019 at the age of 78.
