8. Van Morrison ($90 million)
With hits like Gloria and Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison has been the most successful Northern Irish singer ever. He began performing as a child and formed a band called The Sputniks when he was just twelve years old.
Before being a solo artist, Morrison was in a band called Them in the 1960s. This band had three hits, including 1964’s Baby, Please Don’t Go, 1965’s Here Comes the Night, and Mystic Eyes.
However, it was Gloria, the B-side to Baby Please Don’t Go, that went on to be covered successfully by the likes of the Shadows, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Patti Smith, and others.
